At Middle School 577 (MS 577), our educators are deeply committed to the holistic development of each adolescent student—covering educational, emotional, social, and physical growth. We firmly believe that every student has the potential to meet or exceed rigorous academic standards. Our learners are curious and creative, thriving through personal initiative and sustained effort. They are critical thinkers who actively seek knowledge across all subject areas.
Our students excel academically, with opportunities to earn advanced credits in Mathematics, Science, and Foreign Language. We emphasize multicultural awareness and sensitivity, instilling in our students and staff a deep respect for themselves, others, and the community. We aim to make the "school" experience a cornerstone of lifelong learning, providing a strong foundation for future academic pursuits, including college.
Our curriculum integrates real-life situations to foster social growth and prepare students for their futures. We ensure that all classrooms cater to diverse learning styles and academic levels. Our dedicated team of teachers, administrators, and staff forms a collaborative professional learning community and actively seeks partnerships with neighboring schools.
We view parents as essential partners in the educational process and encourage their active involvement. Our “open door” policy invites parents to engage in their children’s learning and contribute valuable input to our academic and enrichment programs. I believe all students can learn, and will learn, given the tools necessary for learning. I believe the “tool” necessary for learning begins with a nurturing environment that accepts, appreciates, and values all learners. This nurturing environment must have a staff that is willing to work diligently in getting to know, embrace, and celebrate each and every family in our learning community. It is essential that the curriculum be filled with rigorous tasks, and meaningful learning that can be applied to “real” life.
